The Scoring Standard

Every score is earned on film — or we don't give it.

MyKeeperCoach grades six goalkeeping dynamics from your real match footage. When the film can't prove something happened, we tell you — instead of inventing a number. Here's exactly what we measure and how the score is built.

The Six Dynamics We Measure

Goalkeeping isn't one skill — it's six. Every report grades each one on a 0–100 scale and plots them on a development radar you can track season over season.

Shot Stopping Positioning Crosses Distribution 1v1 Communication

Shot Stopping

Reactions to on-target shots — handling security, dive mechanics, parry placement, rebound control, and reaction speed.

Positioning

Angles, depth off the line, and readiness relative to the ball — being in the right place before the shot is ever taken.

Cross Management

Decision and execution on balls into the box — the judgment to come or stay, the claim, punch, or command of the area.

Distribution

Starting the attack — throws, rolls, and kicks measured on selection, accuracy, and the tempo they set for the team.

1v1 Situations

Breakaways and close-range moments — timing of the engagement, body shape, and how the keeper narrows the attacker's options.

Communication

Organizing the defense — audible instructions and commands that set the line, mark runners, and manage set pieces.

What a Score Actually Means

Each dynamic is scored 0–100 against age-appropriate expectations — not against professional keepers. A strong U11 and a strong U16 can both score well, measured against what's right for their stage.

0–39
Developing

An emerging area with clear, coachable gaps to prioritize next.

40–64
Competent

Reliable in routine moments, with room to grow under pressure.

65–84
Advanced

Consistently strong for the age band, including harder situations.

85–100
Standout

A genuine strength that stands out well above the age expectation.

"Not Yet Observed" is a score we're proud to give.

If your keeper faced no crosses in a match, we don't manufacture a Cross Management score to fill the chart. We mark it Not Yet Observed and tell you why. A grade only appears when the footage contains enough real evidence to support it — so the numbers you see are numbers you can stand behind in front of a parent, a club, or a recruiter.

How We Know It Really Happened

The engine is proprietary — but the principles it's held to are not. This is the discipline behind every score.

Sight & sound only

We score what is visibly on screen or clearly audible on the track — nothing implied, nothing assumed. If a moment can't be seen or heard, it didn't happen for the purposes of the report.

The game confirms itself

Every outcome is cross-checked against what happens next. A restart tells the truth: a kickoff means a goal was conceded, a goal kick means the shot went wide. A "save" the game contradicts is corrected before you ever see it.

Facts, not adjectives

Feedback describes the action, direction, and outcome. A camera can't measure how "powerful" a shot was or how "confident" a keeper felt — so we never claim it. You get observations you can verify, not hype.

A second look on every clip

Before a highlight reaches you, an independent verification pass re-checks it against the original footage. Clips that can't be confirmed are held back. We bias toward showing you less, but true.

Coaching, Not Just Numbers

Every dynamic comes with feedback written the way a real GK coach talks — one thing done well, one specific fix and why, one cue to rehearse. The tone adapts to your keeper's age.

Shot Stopping — Score 82 U12 Tone
Reinforce

On the low shot to the near post, your hands led the dive and you parried it wide for a corner — exactly the right choice under pressure.

Correct

On the second save, your set position was established a beat late, so you were still settling as the shot came. Being set earlier gives you a stronger push.

Cue

"Small steps, be set" — a quick set of feet as the striker loads up. Rehearse it in your next shot-stopping block.

What We Will & Won't Do

Honest limits are part of the standard. Here's where the line is.

We work with the footage you already have. Any phone or camera angle that shows your keeper works — no special hardware required. Clearer, steadier video simply yields more scored moments.

We won't invent stats to look impressive. If the play is blocked, ambiguous, or off-camera, the engine flags it as uncertain rather than guessing. The coach's stated goals-conceded count is always the authority — our clips never quietly contradict it.

Your video is handled securely and built for kids. MyKeeperCoach is COPPA-compliant with secure video handling. See our Privacy Policy for the full detail on how footage is stored and who can see it.
